Numerical Simulation of Fluid Flow Past a Square Cylinder Using a Lattice Boltzmann Method

چکیده مقاله:

The method of lattice boltzmann equation(LBE) is a kinetic-based approach for fluid flow computations. In the last decade, minimal kinetic models, and primarily the LBE, have met with significant success in the simulation of complex hydrodynamic phenomena, ranging from slow flows in grossly irregular geometries to fully developed turbulence, to flow with dynamic phase transitions. In the present work, a computer code, based on the LBM has been developed to show the capability of the method for simulating fluid flows. The confined flow around a cylinder with square cross-section mounted inside a plane channel (blockage ratio B=1/8) was investigated in detail with LBM method. The largest Reynolds number chosen was Re=300 based on the maximum inflow velocity and the chord length of the square cylinder. The LBE was built up on the D2Q9 model and the single relaxation time method called the lattice-BGK method. Both velocity profiles and integral parameters such as drag coefficient and Strouhal number were investigated.

Numerical technique Lattice Boltzmann Method (LBM) is relatively new approach based on gas kinetic theory in meso-scale. Macroscopic variables such as pressure and velocity can be determined by momentum of so called particle distribution functions which are described by Boltzmann transport equation. LBM has been extensively studied in last several decades and witnessed as capable like conventio...

This paper deals with the hydrodynamic and thermal analysis of a new type of porous heat exchanger (PHE). This system operates based on energy conversion between gas enthalpy and thermal radiation. The proposed PHE has one high temperature (HT) and two heat recovery (HR1 and HR2) sections. In HT section, the enthalpy of flowing high temperature gas flow that is converted to thermal radiation em...

In this research numerical simulations are performed, using the multi-relaxation-time lattice Boltzmann method, in the range 3 ≤ β = w[d] ≤ 30 at Re = 100, 200 and 300, where β the blockage ratio, w is the equispaced distance between centers of cylinders, d is the diameter of the cylinder and Re is the Reynolds number, respectively. Special attention is paid to the effect of the equispaced dist...
